Background
Norm Letalik is a litigation partner in our Toronto office. He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1989 and the Law Society of England and Wales in 1998. Prior to practising law, Norm was a Law Professor at Dalhousie Law School (1980-1986) and a Visiting Fellow at the National University of Singapore (1986-1988). Norm was also the Assistant Director and Research Associate at the Dalhousie Ocean Studies Programme, which was funded by the Canada Council as Canada’s Centre of Excellence in Ocean Law, Policy and Management.
Norm obtained a Master’s Degree in Political Science (International Relations) from Kent State University in 1976, his Law Degree from Dalhousie Law School in 1979 and a Master’s Degree in Law (with distinction) from Dalhousie Law School in 1980.
Areas of Practice
- Norm practises in the areas of litigation, arbitration and mediation. His litigation experience includes: product liability, dealership disputes, marine and aviation disputes and commercial litigation.
- Norm is the Managing Partner, Professional Excellence, and is responsible for developing and implementing a National Professional Excellence Programme, which encompasses the firm’s recruitment, mentoring, performance evaluations, continuing education, knowledge management and professional development activities.
Professional Experience
- Norm is presently the National Head of our Product Liability Practice Group. Previously, he acted as National Head of IT, ADR and International Practice Groups. He is also a member of our Marine and Aviation Practice Groups.
- Norm has delivered numerous papers and presentations throughout the world and is the author of more than 50 publications in many areas of the law.
- Norm received a "repeatedly recommended" ranking Lexpert's 2001 Directory for shipping and maritime law.
