Background

  • Greg McCashin is the firm’s National Director of Professional Development. He was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1989. He graduated from Queen’s University Law School in 1987.
  • Greg is fluently bilingual in English and French. Prior to obtaining his law degree, he attended the Université de Montréal where he obtained a Master’s degree in French-English translation in 1984.
  • After graduating from law school, Greg practiced for a number of years as a business lawyer in a private firm and as in-house counsel with two large corporations. Immediately prior to joining Borden Ladner Gervais, Greg was a full-time faculty member with the Bar Admission Course of the Law Society of Upper Canada where he was responsible for the Business Law Course and the French program.

Areas of Practice

  • Greg is responsible for the organization and coordination of all internal professional development activities for the firm’s associate lawyers, including the BLG 101, 301 Litigation and 301 Transactions, 501 and 701 programs, as well as the National CLE Program, which together constitute the core of Borden Ladner Gervais’ Professional Excellence Program.
  • Greg is also responsible for the firm’s continuing education policies and programs. These include continuing legal education, but are also designed to provide a broad range of knowledge to the firm’s lawyers in several other key areas, including technology and business sector developments.

Professional and Community Activities

  • Greg is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Canadian Bar Association, County of Carleton Law Association, Association des juristes d’expression française de l’Ontario and the Professional Development Consortium.
