Background

Noëlle Caloren is a co-leader of the Firm’s Labour and Employment Group in Ottawa. Noëlle received both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Ottawa. She also graduated from the University of Ottawa with a Bachelor of Laws. Noëlle is fluently bilingual in English and French and practices in both official languages. She was called to the Bar of the Province of Ontario in 1995.

Areas of Practice

  • Noëlle has developed an expertise in Education Law representing school boards on a wide range of education-related matters. More broadly, she provides advice to corporate and individual clients on all aspects of  employment law, including employee terminations, severance packages, employee discipline, human rights, and the drafting of employment and consultant contracts.  She also has acquired an expertise in the areas of access to information and privacy rights as they relate to both the federal and provincial jurisdictions.
  • In labour relations, Noëlle advises and represents clients with respect to Labour Board proceedings and grievance arbitrations.
  • Noëlle has also developed a sound knowledge of administrative law through her work as a part-time member of the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services. In this role, she reviews public complaints made against police force members and presides over appeal hearings.

Professional Experience

  • Noëlle has represented firm clients in various administrative proceedings such as appearances before the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Ontario and Canadian Human Rights Commissions and arbitration boards. She has also acted for firm clients in the Civil Courts in employment-related litigation.
