Background
Andrew Maciag is a partner in our Calgary Office. Andrew was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1981 and was admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales in 1984. He graduated from London Guildhall University, England in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Law with Honours and from the University of Alberta, Canada with a Master of Laws degree in 1980.

Professional Experience
- Andrew has a banking and insolvency practice with an emphasis on foreclosure law and acts mainly for Canadian Chartered Banks, life insurance, mortgage and trust companies. He has acted in numerous commercial and residential mortgage enforcement matters and in the enforcement of other securities.
- He has appeared as counsel before all court levels in Alberta and before a number of administrative and professional tribunals.
Professional and Community Activities
- Andrew assisted in the preparation of a book entitled 'Mortgage Actions in Alberta' by Marguerite Trussler and Francis C.R. Price which was published by Carswell Legal Publications in 1985.
- He presented a number of papers at a variety of seminars and was a founding member of the Foreclosure Section of the Canadian Bar Association in Calgary.
- He has been a member of the Canadian Bar Association since 1980.
- For many years, he was a lecturer for the Law Society of Alberta's Bar Admission Course.
- For several years, he was a Director of the South Alberta Chapter of the Canadian Condominium Institute which is a national organization interested in condominium issues.
- In 1988 he chaired a sub-committee of the Canadian Condominium Institute which presented recommendations to the Government of Alberta on proposed changes to The Condominium Property Act (Alberta).
- Andrew was a member of the Board of Directors of the Calgary Opera Association from 1990 to 1998 and served as President of the Calgary Opera Association from 1994 to 1996. He continues to be a Director of the South Alberta Opera Development Foundation.
