Background

Danielle Ferron is a partner at our Montréal office and a member of the firm's Commercial Litigation Group, as well as the Fraud and Anti-Piracy, Intellectual Property Litigation, Class Actions, Banking Litigation and Bankruptcy and Insolvency Practice Groups.

Ms. Ferron was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1993 and is a graduate of the Université de Montréal Law School.

Co-authored a book entitled "L'Injonction et les ordonnances Anton Piller, Mareva et Norwich" with partners Mathieu Piché-Messier and the Honourable Lawrence A. Poitras, former Chief Justice of the Superior Court,

Areas of Practice

  • Ms. Ferron's expertise in civil and commercial litigation matters is varied. Her practice focuses principally on:
    • Complex commercial litigation;
    • Fraud, anti-piracy, embezzlement and intellectual property litigation;
    • Injunctions, seizures and other urgent and extraordinary remedies, including Anton Piller (civil search and Mareva) Orders;
    • Banking Litigation;
    • Class Actions.
  • She has also some expertise in insolvency and restructuring, insurance law, technology law and construction law.

Professional Experience

  • Ms. Ferron has:
    • pleaded before all courts of law in Québec and some administrative tribunals;
    • represented several high tech companies, telecommunication companies, banks, bankruptcy trustees, receivers and interim receivers, secured and ordinary creditors, insurance companies, companies of every size, individuals, parties involved in construction matters, during trials, injunctions, seizures, class actions, hypothecary recourses, proposals and bankruptcies;
    • designed and executed anti-piracy enforcement strategies for satellite television providers including various Anton Piller Orders;
    • served as an "officer of the court" as Independent Supervising Solicitor in connection with various Anton Piller Orders;
    • participated as a speaker to the Annual divisional assembly of the judges of the Superior Court on Anton Piller Orders;
    • served as counsel in cases involving multi-million dollar fraud schemes;
    • developed special expertise in injunctive relief, seizures and other urgent matters;
    • developed extensive experience in dealing with private investigators and police forces, search and recovery of electronic evidence, asset tracing and recovery.

Professional and Community Activities

  • Vice-President (since December 2008) and member of the Board of Directors (since 2006) of the Association of Québec Women in Finance (AFFQ)
  • Member of the Liaison Committee with the Superior Court, Commercial Chamber (2002 - 2003) (2007 - present)
  • Member of the WAMS (Women Against Multiple Sclerosis) Committee, Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Quebec Division (2009/2010); Co-President of the Gala Luncheon organized by that Committee in May 2009
  • Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE), Montréal Section (2004 – present)
  • Member of the Canadian Bar Association (1993 – present)
  • President (2009/2010) and Member of the Establishment Committee of the Charles Bruneau Primary School (2003 – present)
  • Responsible of the collection at BLG of clothing for the Fringues & Cie Boutique of the Montreal YWCA (2007 - present)
