Background

André Dufour is a partner at our Montréal office. Mr. Dufour was admitted to the Québec Bar in 1985 and is a graduate of the Université de Montréal Law School.

Areas of Practice

• Mr. Dufour practices business law. He is the regional manager of BLG's Business Department, which includes the following practice groups: commercial real estate, intellectual property, securities and capital markets, financial services, corporate commercial, as well as tax. He is also the regional leader of our Innovation group.
• He is also a member of the following focus groups: Electricity Markets, International Group and Mergers and Acquisitions.

Professional Experience

• Mr. Dufour advises businesses of all sizes, in addition to financial institutions at both the national and international levels with respect to their commercial activities and transactions of all kinds.
• He been involved in a broad range of commercial transactions including acquisitions, mergers, corporate reorganizations, financing (including venture capital) and joint ventures in various countries, as well as the drafting and negotiation of diverse commercial contracts.
• He represents companies operating in various sectors of the economy including information technology, telecommunications, energy, engineering and food.
• The excellence of his work has been recognized in professional publications such as Martindale Hubble (BV classification – excellent) and Lexpert (appears in the classification "Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada, 2009 Edition" in the Mergers and Acquisitions category).

• Represented Fonorola Corporation in its project for the deployment of a cross-Canada fibre-optics network.
• Represented the City of Montréal in the sale of La Ronde to the U.S. corporation Six Flags.
• Represented Cisco Corporation in its development of an I.P. telephony project with Vidéotron.
• Represented the Fonds de solidarité in the financing of Mecachrome International.
• Member of the team that represented MAAX Corporation in the sale of this company.
• Represented the engineering firm Dessau in its merger with Groupe Soprin.
• Represented Transcontinental Inc. in a joint venture with Yellow Pages Group.
• Represented Service Corporation International in numerous acquisitions in the province of Québec.
• Represented Groupe Cintec in its development project for a landfill in Venezuela.
• Represented Dessau in its development project for a high-tension transmission line in South America.
• Represented Hammond Power Solutions in its acquisition of the Delta Group.
