The BLG Awards are delighted to welcome well-known Canadian singer-songwriter Charlie Major to this year's gala.

Charlie Major

Rising to the forefront of the Canadian music scene in the early to mid nineties, Charlie Major had a heyday on country radio as he became the first Canadian artist in history to score a Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems #1 with his debut single I'm Gonna Drive You Outta My Mind.

Nine more chart-topping hits followed and Charlie criss-crossed North America, headlining major tours and connecting with his fans at fairs and festivals. It wasn't long before a major US record label signed Charlie, moved him and his family to Nashville and added more fiddles and steel guitars to his edgy songs. Charlie's integrity to remain true to his fans, himself and his music was immovable so he relinquished the dream of the big US record deal and returned to his Canadian roots where he is warmly embraced.

In 2008, Charlie is as successful as ever and doing things his way. His latest single and video Make it Right features Mike Holmes from the HGTV show Holmes on Homes. Charlie has partnered with the Holmes Foundation to support their scholarships awarded to students in the building trades.

Charlie has sold nearly half a million records but he wears the cloak of humility, just like the hardworking folks he represents in his music. He's truly a Canadian legend and one of the accomplished 'nice guys' in the game.
